Growing up I never gave much thought to my name. But when I did, I realized just how much there is, to a name! The irony of my story is that it mirrors that of an actual diamond. You know, that shiny little thing that is supposedly a girl’s best friend?A diamonds comes from a humble beginning as a simple, but solid, form of carbon. However, it becomes what it becomes as a result of what it goes through. A diamond is renowned for its superlative physical qualities, like toughness and resiliency, not just beauty. Those qualities are rooted in my make-up and were not GIVEN! They were earned! Each diamond was created deep within the earth through a process that is unseen. But through immense pressure and extremely high temperature, over BILLIONS of years, the strength is fortified and the beauty in undeniable. But they are not rare.
My story is not that of overnight success, but rather a story of embracing the immense pressure of being born to “athletic royalty” and rising above the expectations of others. My story represents an understanding of the intrinsic value of a diamond and its most important work that goes unnoticed by those who believe they know what a diamond is all about.
My quest is to make the young women of this world understand that they are ALL diamonds being formed. For them to understand that 80 percent of all diamonds, because of their toughness and ability to withstand extreme heat and pressure, don’t end up as rings or necklaces. However, they become extremely valuable “behind the scenes” commodities in industrial scenarios BECAUSE of that very same toughness, strength, and uncompromised integrity. In other words, they are even more valuable in their ability to shape, drill, and cut other material in order to build. That is the DIAMOND that I want to be! My mission is to be a light unto others by providing the resources needed for ALL diamonds to shine!
